Miller, who just finished his second season with the U.S. National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich., is ranked No. 10 overall (among both skaters and goalies) on the Red Line Report and No. 23 on Central Scouting's list of the top North American skaters. We ate our pizza and now John Gibson
, Rob Russo and I are all watching Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. I'll be calling it a night soon after this. One last day of interviews tomorrow and then it's onto the fitness testing. Thanks for tuning in!
Since I'm done a lot earlier than I was yesterday, I'm about to order some pizza and play cards with the guys.
Day 2 is complete. All of the meetings went great and I only have seven more to go. I'll wrap them all up Wednesday. When it's all said and done, I will have met with 26 of the 30 teams here in Toronto at the Combine. I met with the other four in Ann Arbor, Mich. (where the USNTDP is based).
I just finished my Pens meeting and it went great. They're very nice guys and it was nice talking to the hometown guys.
Here's the audio from my interview this morning with 93.7 the Fan. (The Penguins would like to thank Jeff Hathhorn at KDKA for providing the audio!)
I meet with the Flyers in 10 minutes. After that is Columbus and then I'm interviewing with the Pens at 1:05 p.m. It'll be cool. It’ll be nice to meet with the hometown people.
I've met with Brian Fitzgerald (a Penguins amateur scout) but haven't met with any other Penguins personnel before.
My interview with 93.7 the Fan (which aired at 9:40 a.m.) went well. However, they did bring up a tramautic childhood experience involving goats and petting zoos (don't ask). That was the first radio show I've done since I’ve been here and I have one more Thursday with Sports Talk on TribLIVE radio.
I've got some down time between interviews, so I'll be calling into a Pittsburgh radio show in the next five minutes. I'm going to be a guest on 93.7 the Fan. I'll let you know how it goes when I'm done!
I've got a slightly less hectic schedule today then I did Tuesday, with eight interviews lined up instead of 11 (Click here to see J.T.'s blog from Day 1 of the Combine)
. I'm going to take advantage of the breaks to rest as much as I can since I'm not feeling too well this morning.
I’m very comfortable with the questions so far. The teams ask background information about my family, what kind of player I am, what my weaknesses are, what my strengths are and where I see myself in the draft or with an NHL team or a college team. Stuff like that.
I’m meeting again with some of these guys I've talked to so far at the draft, and I do have a follow-up interview with the Blackhawks Thursday.
Here's the teams I'll be talking to today (I'm kicking off the morning with the Pens' two biggest rivals):
