SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment and the Florida Panthers announced today that Michael R. Yormark, the organization’s Chief Operating Officer since September 2003, has been promoted to the position of President.
“Michael’s leadership, passion and determination have helped the Florida Panthers organization achieve its business goals and increase revenues each of the last four years,” said Alan P. Cohen, Florida Panthers Chief Executive Officer. “During that period, we created Sunrise Sports & Entertainment, a diversified entertainment company, and have transformed the BankAtlantic Center into one of the premier sports and entertainment facilities in North America. Along with Head Coach & General Manager Jacques Martin’s leadership on the ice, our organization is in great hands for years to come.”
“I joined this organization in order to work for Alan, a proven business leader of the highest integrity, and I am honored to have earned his trust with this new position,” said Yormark. “I am fortunate to lead the hardest working staff in the industry and am proud of our achievements. My team and I will continue to work closely with Alan and Jacques to mold the Florida Panthers organization into one that the South Florida community truly embraces and is proud of.”
Under Yormark’s guidance, SSE has been built on a “sales first” foundation, welcoming numerous sponsorship partners that include some of South Florida’s most prominent and successful businesses. Among his many accomplishments were the renaming of the Arena as the BankAtlantic Center, the expansion of the BankAtlantic Center’s entertainment programming, the launch of the Sinatra Theatre at the BankAtlantic Center and the creation and development of Unrestricted, Live On Stage and Panthers Insider publications.
In 2005-06 Yormark was honored as one of the recipients of Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal Forty Under 40 Award for his tremendous business efforts with the Florida Panthers Hockey Club and the BankAtlantic Center. Yormark also led the Panthers organization to Street and Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal’s 2005 Stanley Cup of Business.
The Florida Panthers 2007-08 season is presented by the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. Sunrise Sports & Entertainment is the premier company of its kind in South Florida. Home to more than 185 events annually and the Florida Panthers Hockey Club, the BankAtlantic Center is consistently a top 20 United States venue according to Pollstar. The BankAtlantic Center welcomes more than two million guests each year and is also the home of the Sinatra Theatre presented by BankAtlantic and three monthly South Florida publications: Live On Stage Credentials, Unrestricted and Panthers Insider.
