Top Finnish Athletes Come Together at Panthers Game

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers got a special visit Thursday night from a few tennis players participating in the Sony Ericsson Open on Key Biscayne.

Finnish No.1 Jarkko Nieminen is a big fan of fellow countryman and Panthers Captain, Olli Jokinen. Following the game Thursday night, Nieminen and Jokinen met in the Panthers locker room. It was a picture-perfect moment as two of the top athletes from Finland got together and discussed tennis and hockey among other topics for an hour after the Panthers game with Ottawa had ended.

Also enjoying the game were ATP players Ivan Ljubicic, Max Mirnyi and Jonas Bjorkman, ranked No. 1s and 2 respectively in the Stanford ATP Doubles Rankings, and Austrian Stefan Koubek.

All of the tennis players were guests of the Panthers Thursday night and were able to watch the game from the BankAtlantic Center’s WCI Communities Private Club as well as rink side seats.

In return, the Sony Ericsson Open has given a couple of the Panthers players tickets to come down to Key Biscayne over the next week to take in some tennis and tour their locker room facilities.
