SUNIRSE – Florida Panthers Assistant General Manager Randy Sexton announced today the club has hired Rob Tallas as the team’s new goaltending consultant.
“We are very excited to add someone with Rob's background, experience and passion to the organization,” said Sexton. “He will be a tremendous asset to our coaching staff both on and off the ice.”
“This is something I've wanted since I retired here in Florida in 2002,” Tallas said. “To work for this organization and have this role, it's a great opportunity and it's a challenge I look forward to."
Throughout his 13-year playing career, Tallas appeared in 99 career National Hockey League games with the Boston Bruins (1995-2000) and Chicago Blackhawks (2000-01). The Edmonton, Alberta native currently serves as a hockey instructor at the Florida Panthers official practice facility, incredible ICE and has previously worked with several NHL goalies. He also has participated as an instructor at the Panthers goaltending schools, while conducting one-on-one goaltending classes with aspiring goaltenders. Additionally, he serves as an active member of the Florida Panthers Alumni Association.
“We are extremely pleased to add Rob to our coaching staff,” said Florida Panthers Head Coach Pete DeBoer. “He has both experience playing on the NHL and international level and we are confident that he will work well with all the goaltenders in our organization.”
