SUNRISE, Fla. – As part of their ongoing commitment to the South Florida community, and in an effort to continue to make the BankAtlantic Center an environmentally friendly venue, Sunrise Sports & Entertainment today unveiled their Green is in the Center of It All environmental campaign.
“The Green is in the Center of it All environmental campaign is a very important initiative for our organization and one that our building staff has been working on tirelessly for the past year,” said BankAtlantic Center GM/VP of Operations Brett Stefansson. “As one of the busiest venues in North America, it is important that we take the appropriate steps to lead the way in conservation and environmental responsibility.”
Over the last year, the BankAtlantic Center implemented several green initiatives that include recycling cardboard, office paper, light bulbs and used office equipment. Furthermore, the BankAtlantic Center uses its building automation system to reduce energy consumption as it relates to HVAC as well as manage its lighting schedule to work around event and work schedules in order to minimize unnecessary use.
“Sunrise Sports & Entertainment and the BankAtlantic is dedicated to enhancing the awareness of environmental concerns,” said SSE President/COO Michael Yormark. “We are committed to continuing to create programs that will help reduce the environmental footprint, while also educating our fans on conservation concerns.”
The BankAtlantic Center also purchased a new Invensya Niagara building automation system that optimizes the hvac/ice chillers schedules in order to limit electricity and water usage. Additionally, all of the BankAtlantic Center’s restrooms utilize green paper products and all of the building’s cleaning products use a single purpose cleaner in order to lower the environmental impact.
Also, this past year the BankAtlantic Center partnered with Rock and Wrap It Up!. As part of this program, the BankAtlantic Center donates all of its’ cooked, edible and unused from Panthers hockey games, concerts and events to Rock and Wrap it Up!, which delivers it to soup kitchens and homeless shelters in the South Florida community.
The BankAtlantic Center is currently working on new methods to further increase the effectiveness of their recycling program, while also creating better ways to reduce their lightning and power usage both inside and outside the venue. Furthermore, the BankAtlantic Center will continue to monitor and find new means that will make the venue more environmentally friendly and efficient.
Additionally, the Florida Panthers hockey club will launch a Go Green with the Panthers environmental campaign this summer that will be a multi-faceted and environmentally friendly initiative that will reach out to the entire South Florida community.
Sunrise Sports & Entertainment is the premier company of its kind in South Florida.
