Cretin-Derham High School (Minnesota)
6-1, 200 pounds
Central Scouting Final Ranking: No. 11

Not only was McDonagh named ‘Mr. Hockey’ as the top high school player last season in Minnesota, but he’s being called by some the best high school player in this year’s Entry Draft.

Central Scouting says McDonagh has the ability to “dominate a game” as a skilled, offensive defenseman who has the skill to rush the puck and has a strong shot from the point.

McDonagh, who patterns his play after NHL defensemen Chris Chelios and Niklas Lidstrom, scored 10 goals (33 points) in 23 games last season and was named MVP of the Minnesota State Championship Tournament.

A gold medalist in 2005 as a member of the U.S. Under-17 Team at the Four Nations Tournament, McDonagh will attend the University of Wisconsin in the fall of 2008.
