Prospect Spotlight – Kyle Rau

Position: F

Hometown: Eden Prarie, MN

Number: 7

Height: 5’8”

Weight: 173

Shoots: L

Drafted: 2011 by Florida Panthers, third round (91st overall)

The University of Minnesota standout has come out of the gates on fire in his senior season with the Golden Gophers.

Serving as team captain, the shifty center has eight points (3-5-8) in four games this season leading his team on and off the ice.

Coming up the NCAA ranks and developing chemistry with Panthers center Nick Bjugstad, Rau has proven he is just as dangerous without the 6’6” Bjugstad in the lineup with him and has made a name for himself. The recently turned 22 year-old recorded his 50th goal as a Golden Gopher the day after his birthday on Saturday (Oct.25) in Minnesota’s 5-3 win over Bemidji State.

Rau has played 125 games for the Gophers in his collegiate career thus far and has joined the University of Minnesota’s 100-point club posting 131 points (50-81-131).
