SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment today announced that the Florida Panthers organization presented the City of Sunrise with an official Southeast Division Championship commemorating the Cats’ first ever division championship during the 2011-12 NHL season.
Panthers president Michael R. Yormark made the presentation during last night’s City Commission meeting. Yormark presented the banner to City of Sunrise Mayor Michael Ryan, Deputy Mayor Joseph Scuotto, Assistant Deputy Mayor Sheila Alu, Commissioner Donald Rosen, Commissioner Larry Sofield, City staff, and the attending public.
“It is quite clear to us that the recent growth and success of the Florida Panthers organization is due largely to the support of our partners and constituents,” Yormark said. “The City of Sunrise is our home, and we have been the beneficiary of incredible passion and support from this city since we moved here in 1998. For that reason, we wanted to share last season’s wonderful accomplishments with them with this banner – a small token of our gratitude after years of undaunted support.”
Earlier this year the Panthers presented Broward County with a similar Southeast Division Championship banner in thanks for their continued support and in recognition of their ownership of the Panthers’ home – the newly named BB&T Center.
