SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers announced today that they have partnered with Publix Super Markets to host a food drive at the BankAtlantic Center before select Panthers home games in November. All food collected will then be donated to the Cooperative Feeding Program to help Broward County families in need this holiday season.
During Florida Panthers home games through November 24, fans will have an opportunity to donate non-perishable food items at tables set up on the BankAtlantic Center’s plaza level for the ‘Panthers Day of Sharing’ at the Cooperative Feeding Program on Nov. 25. In addition, monetary donations are also welcome. The Panthers will begin collecting food on Wednesday, Nov. 12 when the Panthers take on the Tampa Bay Lightning. The wives/girlfriends of Panthers players will accept donations at marked tables outside the BankAtlantic Center before the Panthers games on Nov. 12, Nov. 14 and Nov. 24.
This season, the Panthers plan to offer fans an extra incentive to donate their non-perishables to the food drive. Each night that the Panthers are collecting food, they will be holding a drawing for a nightly prize. Every fan that donates one item to the food drive will be entered to win that night’s drawing (one entry per person per night) and be eligible to win prizes such as a team signed stick, a meet and greet with a Panthers player and ADT Club tickets. Prizes are subject to change.
“The ‘Panthers Day of Sharing’ is one of the most exciting and gratifying events of the year for our organization and the Panthers Foundation,” said Florida Panthers Foundation Chairman Stu Siegel. “I am proud to offer fans a little extra motivation to donate this year and I am looking forward to being able to announce that we have collected food to feed over 500 families this holiday season. I am extremely grateful for the support of Publix Super Markets and I anticipate collecting a record-breaking amount of food this season.”
The entire staff of Sunrise Sports & Entertainment, select Panthers players and their wives/girlfriends will go to the Cooperative Feeding Program on Tuesday, Nov. 25 and help serve food, unload trucks, stock the pantries, clean the kitchen, and make Thanksgiving boxes for families in need.
Last year the organization provided nearly 400 families with a Thanksgiving meal. For more information about the Panthers Day of Sharing please contact Terri Crolic at (954) 835-7715 or firstname.lastname@example.org
