Panthers Launch Web Driven NHL Shows

SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers announced today that on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m., the team will unveil their first of a series of interactive, fast-paced and informative internet shows that will focus on a variety of topics around the National Hockey League. Each show will be aired on and will include interviews and feature stories from players, coaches, broadcasters and writers from around the league.

“This is an unprecedented initiative by a member club to produce and broadcast an internet show that is focused primarily on the NHL,” said Panthers Sr. VP of Sales & Marketing Chad Johnson. “This show gives hockey fans an in-depth look at a wide array of topics in the NHL, as well as a look at the Panthers progress throughout the season. Additionally, the show utilizes Panthers television and radio broadcasters in order to give hockey fans a glimpse into the Panthers locker room, as well as some of the other behind the scenes aspects in our organization.”

Above the Glass, which will debut on Oct. 19, is hosted by FS Florida play-by-play broadcaster Steve Goldstein and includes guests Minnesota Star-Tribune beat writer Mike Russo, along with Panthers radio analyst and former player Bill Lindsay. The trio takes a look at current topics around the league, including the influx of young coaches in the NHL, the importance of a fast and successful start at the beginning of the season and the untimely death of New York Rangers prospect Alexei Cherpanov.

Other shows to be aired in the near future include My Hometown, which is hosted by Cats radio play-by-play voice and former Panthers defenseman Randy Moller, as well as Coaches Corner hosted by Hall of Fame defenseman and FS Florida Analyst Denis Potvin.

In the first installment of Coaches Corner to be aired on Monday, Oct. 20, Potvin speaks with Panthers bench boss Peter DeBoer about the fundamentals of the game, as well as some of the different practice drills that he utilizes each day to prepare his club. In My Hometown, which will air on Thursday, Oct 23, Moller takes fans inside the Motor City to see where Panthers LW David Booth spent his childhood. In his Coaches Corner segment,

Additionally, in Lindsay’s Look Behind the Scenes, he will take fans into the locker room to examine the intricacies and daily routines of hockey players. Beginning tonight, fans will also be able to have their questions taped on the plaza level of the BankAtlantic Center and these questions will be answered by their favorite Panthers players and broadcast personalities. Fans seeking to ask questions should proceed to section 102 between 6-6:45 to have their questions taped.
