by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers

Events Include: Feeding Broward Together, Alumni Pool Tournament and Make-A-Wish Foundation

SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers Foundation isn't slowing down in 2006.

After helping the Girl Scouts of Broward County, Inc. collect over 21,000 lbs of food to help the 'Feeding Broward Together' initiative, the Foundation has a doubleheader tonight with the Make-A-Wish Foundation Sports Banquet and Celebrity Auction and the Florida Panthers Alumni Pool Tournament presented by The Seminole Tribe of Florida.

"The Panthers Foundation is so happy to have been a part of the success of the 'Feeding Broward Together" food drive again this year," said Vice President of Community Development Randy Moller. "And we're extremely excited about tonight's doubleheader with the Alumni Pool Tournament and Make-A-Wish Foundation Sports Banquet and Celebrity Auction. Both of these events will enable the Panthers Foundation to stay involved in community."

Gatsby's Davie will be the site of the 8th annual Alumni Pool tournament. Present and former Panthers players will be in attendance as will Panthers staff, officials and personalities to benefit youth hockey in South Florida.

The Foundation is also taking part in the Make-A-Wish Foundation Sports Banquet and Celebrity Auction at Seminole Hard Rock Live and Casino. Coach Jacques Martin and FSN Florida color commentator Denis Potvin will help auction a once in a lifetime 'Panthers Player for a Day Package' to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The team has donated this package to the Foundation for the past two years to help terminally ill children fulfill a wish.

Over the past year the Florida Panthers Foundation has donated Florida Panthers game tickets and auction items including team-signed jerseys and sticks and Zamboni rides to various South Florida charities. Recipients include: Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Broward County, American Cancer Society, JAFCO, Homestead Air Reserve, Soref JCC, Boys & Girls Club, Miami Disadvantaged Youth, Dept. of Naval Science, American Jewish Community, City of Plantation, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, H.O.P.E., Camelot Community Center, Stellar Kids, Red Cross of Palm Beach, and the Andy Roddick Foundation.

The Foundation has also made charitable donations to the March of Dimes of Palm Beach, Deliver the Dream, the Boca Raton Junior League, the Genetic Disease Foundation, Junior Achievement, N.I.C.E. Heart Charities, Salvation Army, Red Cross of south Palm Beach, and the Boys & Girls Club.
