Nearly 19,000 Fans 'Rock The Rink' On Panthers Opening Night At The BankAtlantic Center

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that 18,802 fans came to the BankAtlantic Center to ‘Rock The Rink’ on Florida Panthers Opening Night this past Saturday. The Panthers new game presentation theme – enhanced through 15,000 Growl Towels given away at the doors courtesy of Office Depot, a revamped Bova Panthers Ice Dancers squad, a new opening video, DJs, a live band, pregame activities and more – led to an electric atmosphere at the ‘Center of it All’ on Opening Night.

“Despite the Panthers heartbreaking loss to the Devils, the passion of our fans and the ‘Rock The Rink’ atmosphere had the BankAtlantic bursting at the seams – it was absolutely incredible,” said SSE president & COO Michael Yormark. “Our goal through the ‘Rock The Rink’ theme was to capture the thrill and excitement a Panthers fan gets every time they attend a home game, and then raise the bar even more. I think we accomplished that on Opening Night, and I’m looking forward to the same type of atmosphere on Friday vs. Philadelphia and for the rest of the season.”

“Opening Night was the total entertainment experience: between the ice dancers, the music, the great game and the pyrotechnics.” – Michael Melendez, Panthers Season Ticket Holder

“To be honest, the experience at Panthers games is always great. Whether it’s the home opener, last game of the season or a weekday game in the middle of the year, I’ve always been very impressed,” – Frank, Panthers Season Ticket Holder

In addition to the new theme, the Panthers organization held a special postgame VIP party in the BankAtlantic Chairman’s Club to honor some of the franchise’s biggest supporters including sponsors, partners and fans.

The Cats are in action tonight at division rival Tampa Bay. Fans can listen to the action live on 790 the Ticket with Randy Moller doing the call, or watch Tampa’s broadcast live on the NHL Center Ice Package. The Panthers are back at the BankAtlantic Center on Friday night against the Philadelphia Flyers. Tickets are available for as low as $10 a game by calling 954.835.PUCK or logging on to FloridaPanthers.com. The game will also be broadcast live on Fox Sports Florida with Steve “Goldie” Goldstein and Bill Lindsay in the booth, or on radio on 790 the Ticket.
