There are no words to express the horror we all experienced watching what happened to you. Thank God you had the presence of mind and the ability to skate toward the bench. The doctors in the arena should be credited for acting quickly to get the bleeding under control. The sigh of relief to hear that you were in stable condition on the way to the hospital was the most welcome news we possibly could have heard. Upon the news, everyone in the arena gave you a standing ovation., You are loved by many who don't know you personally. From the bottom of our hearts we all wish you a very speedy recovery. Our hearts go out to you and your family. As a player, you have given us lots to cheer about. You are a very classy guy., We hope to see you back in South Florida soon in good health. If we get to see you back on the ice in a Panther uniform, it would be the icing on the cake.

It is amazing how close we feel to someone we have never met. It truly was as if it had happened to one of our own family. True fans become personally involved with the teams we watch on a regular basis. We expect them to perform to the best of ther abilities and to win games and championships but when we witness something like this none of that matters. Once we know you will recover then we will once again become excited about the race for the playoffs. Until then, you will remain in the forefront of our thoughts.

You, your teammates, and the entire collection of players put out such a superhuman effort every night that you step onto the ice, that we fans begin to think that you are just "that"--superhuman. When you went down last night, it quickly made all of us realize just how human you really are and on what a fine edge you live that human life. My wife, Marie and I wish to extend our deepest gratitude to you for the level of entertainment that you provide for us, and wish that your recovery will be as quick as possible allowing you to once again earn your living. God Bless!!

I was sitting in the second row from Richard, when this happened. I did see this in the past with Clint Milarchuck and I was hoping to never see it again. I give Mr. Zednik praise for his courage to get off the ice on you own power because nothing in the world can prepare someone for an event like that. I couldn't believe it when that happened in 1989 at our old memorial auditorium, and i still can't believe it now. I salute the medical staff and of course Richard for the quick thinking to save a very good hockey players life. God Speed and rest up to hopefully see you back in action one day again.

Mr. Richard Zednik,
We in Buffalo wish you the very best. It is at times like these the game we feel so passionate about becomes unimportant. Buffalo has seen its share of seemingly horrific injuries in Clint Malarchuk and Kevin Everett, only to be blessed with the ability to watch miraculous recoveries. We hope and pray that you return to health and happiness as quickly as possible.
Jeff - Jamestown, New York
My heart sank when I heard the radio announcers declare you had been cut. I cannot imagine what you must have gone through, nor will I pretend to know. I wish you all the best, and hope that you have an excellent recovery. I have been a Panthers fan since 1994, and nothing has shaken me to the core quite like this. I would love to see you come back and continue your point streak; you will be missed dearly while you recover. You have been a great contributor to this team this year.

Our family was watching the game from Seattle, WA last night when the incident occurred. We were all in shock as we watched the event unfold. As a mother, with a son who plays hockey, and a wife whose husband lives for the game every Friday night when he plays in his beer league. This was our worst nightmare unfolding before our eyes. I am not a Panther fan, actually you just pretty much just single handedly beat my favorite team the Bruins the other night. I am however a huge hockey fan and a fan of yours. My daughter just started playing in a mites division and my biggest fear is what unfortunetly happened to you last night. They are not required to wear neck proctection, but my daughter will be wearing it now. I hope that maybe you will push for this in youth hockey after you feel better as well. I just want you to know that I will be praying for you and your family and I hope to see you back out on the ice soon. God bless.
