Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has agreed to terms on a four-year contract with LW Jussi Jokinen.
“Jussi is a talented player with great hockey sense who we are pleased to have signed,” said Tallon. “He possesses goal scoring ability and is very good in shootouts. He adds a leadership presence to our club and will be the perfect mentor for our younger players.”
Jokinen, 31, has played in 660 career National Hockey League games for Dallas (2005-2008), Tampa Bay (2007-2009), Carolina (2008-2013) and Pittsburgh (2012-2014), scoring 149 goals with 265 assists and 250 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 198-pound left wing has recorded 50 or more points four times throughout his NHL playing career, including a career best 65 points (30-35-65) in 2009-2010. He has appeared in 48 post-season games registering 28 points (16-12-28).
Jokinen was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the sixth round (192nd overall) in 2001 NHL Draft.
