Jacques Martin's Post-game Comments vs. Washington
/ Florida Panthers
On the Panthers play and the end of the game…
We knew it was going to be a tough game. It’s one of those games where they worked hard and were able to capitalize on the game. They scored on a 5 on 3. The first goal was a quick play, they caught us in the neutral zone and they capitalized. It’s been good that we have been able to find ways to win games. With overtime, the power plays, and the good game from Marty, with two goals.
On the energy of team when the scores around the league were shown… That is important, but the key is for us to win our games. We don’t control the other teams. We have a huge game on Sunday against Carolina. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to re-group and get ready for Sunday.
On Marty’s performance and Peltonen’s absence… Both goals were the same, that’s one of his assets, (getting in front of the net and creating traffic). Especially after losing Roberts, he filled that role in front the net and occupying defenseman or screening the goal. Peltonen was just sick, he started the game, but wasn’t feeling well, he was vomiting and just didn’t feel well so he couldn’t finish.
