Jacques Martin's Post-game Comments vs. NJ Devils

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
On the team's defense:

I think we played good defense ourselves. That's the key to beating this team. They dwell on turnovers, if you don't commit turnovers or give them any free-bees and make them work for their chances; we have a much better chance of winning the game. I thought we played a strong game. The specialty team was a factor. On penalty killing we did a great job; we didn't give them any goals. Our power play, we had the one opportunity and we got a goal and that was the difference in the hockey game. I thought 5 on 5 we had a real strong game. We got the big saves from Eddie when we had to.

On the importance of Olesz's goals after the Devils took the lead:

Well, it was key for sure. When you look at the power play and he went to the front of the net as we had talked about, and getting the puck to the point; that's how you score against this team. His second goal was a real good shot. He's a young guy that we count on and he's evolving well. It was really nice to come back quickly on them and then Kiwi's goal to give us the lead. It was a real nice play, nice pass from Gratton to find the high man, and yet again a quick shot.

On Olesz's perfomance since he came back:

His whole game has really picked up. I think it was a good experience for him and as well since he's been back playing more with Stumpel and Gelinas, they've been one of our better lines. Not only offensively, but defensively, like tonight. Most of the night they went against the top line from Jersey, the Gomez line, and at the end of the night they are plus and the other ones are minus.
