Jacques Martin's Post-Game Comments vs. Buffalo

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers

Must feel good:

Yeah I thought it was an excellent game. I thought we really worked hard. We made some good decisions, moved the puck. We know they are the best team in the conference. We had a good game against them in their building, there was a lot of intensity. I felt that special teams was the key. We had two powerplay goals, they got the one on the five on three. Until then, we really did a good job, Alex made some good saves. It could've been three nothing at the end of the first, but their goalie is top notch and kept them in.

Frustration at the end of the first:

I think its something you have to learn to deal with. You have to play 60 minutes. You work hard, play within the system, and eventually you are going to have some success. Its crucial for us to get a streak going and stay on track. I think we had a good game in Pittsburgh, played strong, and continued that. We have two big games this weekend. It was a really entertaining hockey game for the fans as well. I think the fans were well entertained.

Play of Weiss:

I think he responded with one goal and like I said, when I look at our team compared to last year, I think we improved our defense. Weiss wasn't in the second half last year, so I think he is getting a great opportunity, with Joe out. Last year we didn't have Todd, and I spoke with Nathan in Pittsburgh. He's getting a great opportunity, and has to maximize those chances. He's getting a lot of chances on power play, five on five, penalty killing. You just have to keep pushing to get better every day.

Confidence of winning two in a row:

It's a confidence factor. I look at last week when we played games against Atlanta, Montreal. I think Montreal up until today was our best game of the season, and we had nothing to show for it. Sometimes that's frustrating. Then we went into Ottawa, ended up in a ditch, but we came back, picked ourselves up and its not too late.
