Jacques Martin's Post Game Comments vs. Atlanta

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers

On tonight's performance...

Well, the difference in the game was the penalties. When you look at it at the end of the night, we had three power plays, they had eight. They had one goal on the power play, we didn't have any, so that is the difference in the hockey game.

On if his players put in a better effort tonight than in the last game...

Definitely, but its still not good enough as far as paying attention to detail. In the third period a couple of times we got some pucks. You got to stop in front of the net. If you stop in front of the net you get a chance for a rebound. Its those kinds of things but I think it was a much better effort than Thursday.

On how to approach the next couple of games...

You just have got to still be persistent and get better. That's the bottom line. Its not outside, its inside.

On if the players need to start taking more responsibility...

For sure, when you look at the penalties tonight. Hooking, hooking, hooking, interference. They're lazy penalties. That's what they are. They had a meeting a couple weeks ago about penalties and then they rectified it. But some guys are still lazy.
