by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment and the Florida JR Panthers announced today that former National Hockey League player Paul Healey has been named the Florida JR Panthers Travel Hockey Club Director of Coaching for the 2011-12 season.

Healey concluded a 15-year professional hockey career in 2009 after playing over 1,000 games in the NHL, AHL, Swedish Elite League, Finnish National League and more. Healey joined the Iceplex team as a private hockey instructor in 2007 and was the Assistant Coach for the Florida Everblades (ECHL) during the 09-10 season and has previously volunteered on a part-time basis with JR Panthers.
The JR Panthers will feature 10 teams in the 2011-12 season (Mites through U18) and are looking to capitalize on last season’s success, which included four state championships and a Silver Medal at the USA Hockey National Championship.
“Paul Healey brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to his new position with the Florida JR Panthers Travel Hockey Club,” said Florida JR Panthers president Jeff Campol. “Bringing in a person of Paul’s caliber is indicative of our commitment to continuing to grow the JR Panthers program in to one of the elite travel hockey clubs in North America.”
