Florida Panthers Recall Michael Matheson from Portland (AHL) on Emergency Basis

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Panthers have recalled defenseman Michael Matheson from the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Portland Pirates on an emergency basis.

The 22-year old Matheson has played in two games this season with the Panthers. The 6-foot-2, 192-pound native of Point-Claire, Quebec has played in 54 games this season with Portland, recording 20 points (8-12-20) and a plus-14 rating.

Matheson was originally selected by the Panthers in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.
