Florida Panthers Foundation Announces "Shirts Off Our Backs" Fundraiser

Auction Set To Take Place Saturday, March 29
SUNRISE, FL – The Florida Panthers Foundation announced today that it will hold its annual “Shirts Off Our Backs” auction on Saturday, March 29 as the Panthers take on the Washington Capitals in the final regular season home game of the 2007-2008 season.
Fans will have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction to bid on game worn jerseys from their favorite Panthers players during the first two periods of play. The auction will conclude at the end of the second intermission. Auction winners will be escorted onto the ice after the conclusion of the game and each player will take the jersey off his back, autograph it and present it to the winning fan.
“We are excited to offer fans the opportunity to bid on the game worn jerseys of their favorite Panthers players,” said Executive Director Alaina Miller. “This auction is the highlight of our in-game fundraising efforts and we look forward to once again giving fans the once in a lifetime experience of having their favorite Panthers player present them with their game worn jersey.”

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital has been named as a preferred beneficiary of the Florida Panthers Foundation. The hospital will receive $500 from the Foundation for every Panthers goal scored at the BankAtlantic Center during the 2007-08 season.
Over the past year the Florida Panthers Foundation has donated funds to the following organizations: The Andy Roddick Foundation, the Transplant Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, Goldie’s Gang, Deliver the Dream and the Jewish National Fund.
Additionally, the Florida Panthers Foundation has donated Florida Panthers game tickets and auction items including team-signed jerseys and sticks and Zamboni rides to various South Florida charities. Recipients include: Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Broward County, American Cancer Society, JAFCO, Homestead Air Reserve, Soref JCC, Kids in Distress, American Jewish Community, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Rock and Wrap It Up!.
