Panthers 2006 1st Round Draft Pick Michael Frolik Records First Pro Hat Trick
TORONTO, ON – The Florida Panthers prospects defeated York University 9-1 in the final game of the 2006 Toronto Rookie Tournament at Richo Coliseum to finish with a 2-2 record. The 10th overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Michael Frolik, recorded his first professional hat trick, scoring the first two and the last of the Cats nine goals.
Drew Larman scored the fourth Panthers goal of the game, his fourth of the tournament to lead all Panthers prospects in the tournament. Stefan Meyer had a big day in the assist column, accounting for four assists on the nine Panthers prospects goals. Franklin MacDonald also has a big day in the assist category, accounting for three.
Larman (4-1-5), MacDonald (1-4-5) and Meyer (0-5-5) led the way for the Panthers prospects during the Toronto Rookie Tournament with five points a piece.
The Panthers prospects scored three goals in the first period and two in the second to take a commanding 5-0 lead into the third period. In the third period, the Cats came out firing, scoring four goals in a span of two minutes and twenty seconds. Overall, the Panthers prospects put 61 shots on goal, while only allowing 11 for York U.
