Tyler Seguin talks to the Edmonton media at a downtown hotel..
Following the footsteps of Taylor Hall
last Thursday, Tyler Seguin paid a visit to the City of Champions today. After lunch and a meet-and-greet with Oilers staff, Seguin toured Rexall Place, visited the Oilers dressing room and underwent a short physical in the team’s medical room.
“I enjoyed being in the same building where Gretzky played,” said Seguin. “There’s a lot of history in the Edmonton oilers dressing room. I’ve been to a couple other ones and I thought that’s probably one of the best ones I’ve ever seen.”
Seguin capped the afternoon off in downtown Edmonton with a media scrum at Sutton Place Hotel before heading to owner Daryl Katz’s house for dinner.
“I’m excited to meet the owner. My biggest concern is what to wear. I didn’t want to show up in baggy jeans,” he joked.
The Plymouth Whalers’ centre was named the Ontario Hockey League’s 2009-10 MVP, scoring 48 goals in 63 games and tying Hall for a total of 106 points.
As for the outcome of the 2010 Draft, he said, “Sometimes in the back of my mind I want to know what’s going on, but I think that will just add to the excitement when the day comes. I really can’t wait for the moment when there are cameras on me, I’m just sitting on my chair looking down at my jersey and knowing where I may end up.”
With visits over now, both Seguin and Hall will be awaiting the 2010 Draft next Friday, June 25, to see who will be the first overall pick and don the copper and blue.
