by Jen Sharpe / Edmonton Oilers
Six Oilers players and one Oilers prospect are suiting up for their respective countries at the IIHF World Championships in Switzerland from April 24 to May 10.

With the exception of prospect Linus Omark, Edmonton's representatives were held winless in Monday's final qualifying games. Omark tallied an assist in Sweden's 6-3 victory over France, bringing his tournament totals to two goals and eight assists, good for fifth on the leaderboard.

Oilers goalie Dwayne Roloson made 50 saves in Canada's 4-3 shootout loss to Finland (his first loss of the tournament), while teammate Shawn Horcoff registered one shot on net. Earlier in the day, Patrick O'Sullivan posted an assist and two penalty minutes as Switzerland upset his club, USA, 4-3.

The tournament quarterfinals begin Wednesday, May 6. Denis Grebeshkov will join Russia's efforts to defeat Belarus at 8:15am MDT, while O'Sullivan and the rest of Team USA will face Finland at 12:15pm MDT.

Roloson, Horcoff, and the rest of Team Canada will have to wait until Thursday, May 7 to face Latvia in the quarterfinals. Game time is at 8:15am MDT. Sweden, led on the scoresheet by Omark, will battle Ales Hemsky, Ales Kotalik, and the rest of the Czechs in the final quarterfinal at 12:15pm MDT.
