The Edmonton Oilers had an impressive opening game to the rookie tournament last night, defeating Vancouver's rookies by a score of 6-3. Tonight they face the University of Alberta Golden Bears at Clare Drake Arena with a chance to leave with the best record of the tourney with a victory.
Once again, tonight's game will be available to watch online at Rod Phillips will be calling play-by-play with Bob Stauffer providing colour commentary in this one.

Last night, in their win over the Canucks (click here for a full summary, post-game interviews, photos and to watch the game in its entirety online) highly-touted forward Jordan Eberle had two goals and an assist. His linemate, Philippe Cornet, also had three points with a goal and two helpers.

The University of Alberta dropped a 4-3 decision to those same Canucks rookies on Wednesday night at Clare Drake.

Cameron Abney was the third star with a goal and a spirited bout. He should be a physical force again today.

INJURIES: Toni Rajala (leg) hasn't skated yet this camp.... Alex Plante (groin) will sit this one out.

WHO TO WATCH: Greg Gardner and Jesse Gimblet each had a goal and an assist Wednesday against Vancouver... Travis Yonkman is Alberta’s new goaltender, with the departure of Aaron Sorochan. He's a 6’1”, 187 lb Saskatoon native who spent four seasons with the Swift Current Broncos. He sports a WHL career line of 70-49-10, with seven shutouts, a .891 save percentage, and 3.34 goals against average in 147 games played... Derek Ryan had 51 points (23 goals –28 assists) in 39 games overall for Alberta last season, and centres the Bears’ best line between Chad Klassen and Brian Woolger. He was Alberta’s best player during the 2009 national championship tournament, finishing with four points in four games.

NOTEWORTHY: The U of A is 11-10-0 all-time against the Oilers rookies, but Edmonton has won two of the last three meetings... Rob Daum, who spent 10-years as the head coach of the Bears and won three CIS championships and owns a staggering record of 345-79-32 (.792), will be running the visitors' bench at Clare Drake Arena for the Oilers. Bears head man Eric Thurston spent ten-years as Daum’s assistant coach, and tonight’s game will be the first time they’ve coached against each other.
