The Edmonton Oilers announced they have assigned defenceman Darnell Nurse to the American Hockey League’s Oklahoma City Barons.
Nurse, 19, recorded 50 points (13G, 37A), 91 penalty minutes and a plus one rating in 64 games this season with the Ontario Hockey League’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
The Hamilton, Ontario native posted eight points (3G, 5A) and 12 penalty minutes in nine playoff games.
The 6’4”, 193-pound blueliner has spent three seasons with the Soo Greyhounds, registering 101 points (26G, 75A) and 268 penalty minutes in 185 games. In 15 career playoff games he accumulated 12 points (4G, 8A) and 18 penalty minutes.
The Edmonton Oilers selected Nurse in the 1st round, 7th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft.
