In the skills competition, Semyon Varlamov turned away shots by Michael Handzus and Tomas Tatar while Laco failed to stop both Russian shooters.

Drew Doughty opened the scoring and closed it, scoring the overtime game-winning goal in Canada’s 2-1 win over Finland.
Doughty got Canada on the board at 6:16 of the first period with his third goal of the tournament. Doughty fired a shot from the circle and it went in short side, past the blocker of Tuukka Rask. Shea Weber and Sidney Crosby recorded the assists.
Jonathan Toews nearly put Canada up by two when he had a great look on a wraparound, but Rask made the sprawling, spinning save.
Finland tied the game with two minutes remaining in the first. Ossi Vaananen shot the puck from the point and Tuomo Ruutu was posted in front and tipped it in for the equalizer. It was a fitting birthday present for Ruutu, who turned 31 today.
At 2:32 of the overtime period, it was Doughty who would push the puck in five hole of Rask. He was assisted by Jeff Carter. -- Chris Wescott, edmontonoilers.com
