Oilers to Auction 26 Years of Memorabilia

by Staff Writer / Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers announced today that a sampling of 26 years of National Hockey League history will be made available to fans as approximately 60 lots of unique team memorabilia - including one-of-a-kind collectibles from such hockey legends as Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri, Paul Coffey, and many others - will be included in an Edmonton Oilers Online Auction starting on Wednesday, April 19th.

Some of the marquee items of the Edmonton Oilers Auction include: 5 original Stanley Cup Banners, commemorating the Oilers' five Championship seasons; the fabled ping pong table from the Oilers locker room; a number of Heritage Classic game-worn jerseys; and the original electric organ from the Edmonton Coliseum.

"This collection contains the fingerprints of some of the greatest players to have ever played the game," said Kevin Lowe, General Manager of the Edmonton Oilers. "Browsing through the collection, I couldnt help but relive some of those unforgettable moments that I shared in, and remember the teammates who fought beside me to achieve them. Those moments stir our souls, ignite our passion, and remind us that hockey is so much more than just a game."

The Edmonton Oilers Auction will be hosted by NHL Auctions, with net proceeds benefiting the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation.
