On June 9th, Oilers staff gathered at Telus Field to celebrate the annual Loyalty Awards and watch the Edmonton Capitals take on the Yuma Scorpions. An employee base that once supported only one team now has two new teams, the Edmonton Capitals and Edmonton Oil Kings, making the off-season a thing of the past.
“Our organization has grown a great deal over the past two years, our three teams now entertain Oil Country fans year-round,” said Patrick LaForge, President & CEO of the Edmonton Oilers. “Our employees give so much of themselves to support our fans and our athletes, this celebration is about thanking them for their efforts.”
Three Oilers employees reached major milestones this year: Lyle “Sparky” Kulchisky, Oilers Equipment Manager, who celebrated his 30th season, Dave Semenko who celebrated his 25th season as both a player and scout and Ken Lowe who reached the 20 year mark as Oilers Head Medical Trainer.
The Oilers Loyalty Program rewards employees at every five year milestone with an increasing cash reward. The 30 year reward is intended to provide the employee with the means to do a trip of a lifetime.
“Our Loyalty Program is very unique in that it provides our staff with a substantial cash reward,” said Tandy Kustiak, Manager, Human Resources. “Our employees are a phenomenal group of people who are remarkably dedicated and hard-working and it’s one of the ways our management team is able to show our appreciation. Employees use the reward for everything from trips to getting laser eye surgery; it’s nice to be able to provide a reward that really makes a difference in their lives.”
