Oilers recall Toby Petersen

The Edmonton Oilers have recalled centre Toby Petersen from the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League.

The 510", 197-pound native of Minneapolis, Minnesota received the news of his recall on his 28th birthday. Now in his third season with the Oilers organization, Petersen had scored two goals and six assists for eight points in seven games with Iowa this season and was +6 with no penalty minutes.

    Petersen was tied for first on the Stars roster in both assists (6) and plus/minus (+6) and was third on the Iowa scoring list.

    Signed as a free agent by Edmonton on July 30, 2004, he signed a one-year contract with the Oilers for the 2006-07 season on August 28, 2006.

    Petersen, who will arrive in Edmonton in time for the Oilers game versus the Washington Capitals on Saturday, October 28th, has not played a regular season NHL game for the Oilers, but did play two games with Edmonton during the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs and scored his first post-season goal.

    Prior to joining Edmonton he played 91 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2000-01 and 2001-02, scoring 10-16-26 with eight penalty minutes.
