Thousands of fans from across Oil Country lined up outside Rexall Place on Sunday morning for the 5th annual Oilers Locker Room Sale.
The ice was removed and the playing surface was packed with Oilers enthusiasts of all ages who took advantage of the event's exclusive deals and unique items. Along with new and game-used Oilers equipment the sale featured Oilers merchandise, official jerseys, t-shirts, hats and memorabilia.
With the line extending to Wayne Gretzky Drive before the doors opened, Josh Kwong scored the first spot by arriving at 7:20am.
“I've been a Season Seat Holder for five years and have come to almost every Locker Room Sale. You can't find this kind of equipment anywhere else and today I'm hoping to buy some game-used gloves.”
Not far behind, Season Seat Holders of 15 years and father and son team, Jim and Trevor Martin pulled up to Rexall Place at 7:30am. Once the doors opened the men headed straight for an exclusive pair of game-used goalie pads.
As part of the day's festivities, Edmonton Oilers defencemen, Tom Gilbert and Edmonton Oil Kings members, , TJ Foster, Stepheane Legault and Keegan Lowe signed autographs during the afternoon. Members of the Oilers Octane also joined in the fun and provided hospitality throughout the day. A kids fun zone complete with a bouncy castle, top shot hockey game and the Oilers Fanboni made this a true family event.
While the annual Locker Room Sale is now complete, fans should note that the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation Online Locker Room Charity Auction continues until May 17, 2011 and there are several great items available.
