“Cenovus is a wonderful company and a great partner of the Oilers who help us be a lot stronger,” said Oilers President and CEO Patrick LaForge. “We’re so pleased they’re doing something even more generous in Bonnyville where tons of our fans live; we also encourage our fans, those who can afford it, to contribute to good things in their community as well.”
The weekend will kick off with a community BBQ in the parking lot of the Centennial Centre. The whole community is invited to drop by for complimentary food & beverage, activities for the whole family and a chance to meet Oilers Alumni and two-time Stanley Cup Champion Dave Lumley. Festivities will begin at 5:00pm on May 7 and will run until 8:30pm.
"Cenovus is proud to support programs in the communities where we live and work," said Dave Mudie, Vice-President Primrose Assets at Cenovus. "This hockey clinic is one way we say 'thank you.’”
On Saturday morning 90 young players will lace-up their skates for a two-day training clinic focusing on all aspects of the game including ice sessions, off-ice sessions and team building activities. Along with Oilers community staff, coaches from both Hockey Canada and Hockey Alberta will be on-site to provide valuable training for these kids aged nine to 12. Special guest Oilers goaltender, Devan Dubnyk, will also be at the clinic on Saturday with a public availability between 1:00-2:00pm.
Edmonton Oilers Hockey is presented in part by Rexall Family of Pharmacies, Molson Canadian, ATB Financial, TELUS, Cenovus Energy and Ford.
