Oilers assign Khaira

The Edmonton Oilers announced they have assigned centre Jujhar Khaira to the American Hockey League’s Oklahoma City Barons.

Khaira, 19, recorded 43 points (16G, 27A), 59 penalty minutes and a plus five rating in 59 games this season with the Western Hockey League’s Everett Silvertips.

The Surrey, British Columbia native posted four points (3G, 1A) and eight penalty minutes in five playoff games.

The 6’4”, 215-pound centre spent the 2012-13 season with Michigan Tech in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, registering 25 points (6G, 19A) and 49 penalty minutes in 37 games.

The Edmonton Oilers selected Khaira in the 3rd round, 63rd overall in the 2012 NHL Draft.
