The Edmonton Oilers take on the New York Rangers tonight in their seventh pre-season game and final pre-season game at Rexall Place.

Line Combinations (and defence pairings) for the Oilers:

Petry - Fedun
Larsen - Nurse
Belov - J.Schultz

20:00: The first period is now underway.

18:02: Only 1:58 into the game, Chris Kreider takes a hooking penalty in his own zone to give the Oilers an early power play. The penalty was drawn by Ryan Jones as the fourth line was cycling in the NYR end.

12:18: Marc Staal tees up a wrist shot from the left point that beats a screened LaBarbera low and to the glove side, giving the Rangers the lead | NYR 1, EDM 0.
Staal fires a wrist shot through traffic that beats LaBarbera glove side and it's 1-0 with 12:18 left in the 1st period.                                                                                  @EdmontonOilers
9:17: Another penalty to Kreider puts the Oilers back on the power play, looking for the equalizer.

7:13: Just as the penalty expires, the Oilers score to tie it up. Justin Schultz fires a seeing-eye wrist shot that's tipped by Taylor Hall past Martin Biron to make it 1-1. | EDM 1, NYR 1

1:49: Mark Arcobello makes a brilliant pass from the corner of the Rangers zone right on the stick of Jordan Eberle. The winger's shot is turned away by Biron, however.

30.2: Arcobello makes another brilliant feed just over a minute later, this time to David Perron who was streaking up the middle of the Rangers zone. Perron chipped it over Biron for the goal. | EDM 2, NYR 1
Perron with a nice finish on a pretty good feed from Arcobello…..Arcobello has actually made a couple nice passes so far tonight                                            @nielson1260
0:00: The buzzer sounds on period one, with the Oilers holding a 7-3 edge in shots.

20:00: The second period is now underway.

19:32: Chris Kreider gloves the puck off the draw and the Raners get penalized for a faceoff violation.

18:53: Jeff Petry spots Perron at the top of the crease and he redirects it to put the Oilers up by a pair of goals. | EDM 3, NYR 1

17:50: Just over a minute later, J.T. Miller pounces on a rebound and wraps it around LaBarbera blocker side to get the Rangers back in it. | EDM 3, NYR 2

15:40: Perron gets sent to the box for holding, giving the Rangers their first power play of the game.

10:44: Oilers get caught with too many men on the ice. The penalty is served by Ben Eager.

10:34: A delay-of-game penalty puts the Oilers down two men for the next minute and 50 seconds.
Long-time NHL pro scout on Anton Belov: "Where did this guy come from? Have to talk to our Russian scout for missing him."                                            @NHLbyMatty
8:35: Eager breaks out of the penalty box and streaks down the left wing side. He tees up a blast from the top of the left faceoff circle that Biron gets a piece of, but the puck rings off the post, off the back of Biron then trickles across the line. | EDM 4, NYR 2

7:28: Arcobello receives two minutes for slashing.

4:37: After the Oilers had a decisive edge in shots for most of the game, the Rangers finally pull even at 13 shots apiece.
Can someone hook me up with a endorsement deal? I will be a pretty loyal customer for the next little while.                                             @89SGagner
1:48: Nurse and Dorsett each get sent to the box for unsportsmanlike conduct.

0:00: Shots on goal after 40 minutes are 15 apiece for the Oilers and Rangers.

20:00: The third period is now underway. After missing part of the second, Ales Hemsky is back on the Oilers bench.
Hemsky returns for Oilers avoid another injury to top-six forward... Couldn't afford another one...                                                                                                           @JasonGregor
12:21: Rangers carry the play in the final frame, looking to get the game back on even terms. Shots after the first eight minutes of the period are 8-0 for the visitors.

11:14: A shot gets through LaBarbera but Jeff Petry is there on the doorstep to fish the puck off the goal line.

6:45: Nurse skates in behind the Rangers net then backhands it in the slot to Eberle, who roofs it to increase the Oilers lead to three. | EDM 5, NYR 2

3:41: Dan Girardi slaps a puck standing on its end and it finds its way past LaBarbera to make it a two-goal game once again. | EDM 5, NYR 3

0:00: The final buzzer goes, with the final shot count 27-19 in favour of the Rangers.
