July 8, 2014 (EDMONTON, AB) – The Edmonton Oilers and Corus Entertainment announced today a multi-year extension that will keep Corus Entertainment as the exclusive radio rights holder of Edmonton Oilers hockey, and will see 630 CHED as the flagship station of all Oilers radio broadcasts and the home to Oilers Now with Bob Stauffer for the next six years, through 2020.
630 CHED has been the home to Oilers radio broadcasts since 1995, and the home of Oilers Now since 2011. The Oilers broadcast team of Jack Michaels and Bob Stauffer will continue to deliver high-value entertainment to Oilers fans. Oilers coverage will also be supported by CISN Country 103.9 (CISN-FM), The New 92.5 Fresh FM (CKNG-FM) and iNews 880 (CHQT-AM), and broadcast to Oilers fans across Oil Country.
“Corus Entertainment is a fantastic radio partner in bringing Oilers hockey to fans across Oil Country,” said Patrick LaForge, President & COO, Oilers Entertainment Group. “630 CHED has been the home to so many legendary Oilers moments over the years and we look forward to delivering many, many more new ones over the course of the partnership. We know we have top-notch programming and a great broadcast team in Jack and Bob on.”
“It just feels right to have Oilers hockey on 630 CHED,” added LaForge.
“630 CHED has been proud to provide its listeners with Edmonton Oilers games and coverage for 18 years and we are excited to continue our radio partnership with the Oilers into 2020,” said Garry McKenzie, General Manager, Corus Radio Alberta. “With Bob, Jack and Reid at the broadcast helm, CHED listeners will continue to have access to Oilers games, excellent play-by-play coverage and insightful colour commentary.”
The agreement includes all pre-season, 82 regular season and playoff games.
