– Edmonton Oilers Gilbert Brule announced today he is making a $10,000 donation towards the trust fund created to support Maddox Flynn. Two and a half year old Maddox and his father left Tuesday morning on a flight to New York City where Maddox will receive specialized surgery to remove the lymphatic malformation on his face.
“Like all Edmontonians I was touched by this story and wanted to do my part to help Maddox make a full recovery,” said Oilers Gilbert Brule. “Our whole team is rooting for Maddox and his family as they show courage during this challenging time.”
The specialized surgery was not available in Canada; instead the family found a surgeon willing to perform the procedure in New York City. To help the family cover the $50,000 in medical fees associated with this procedure, the Royal Bank set up a trust fund where donations are being accepted. Generous donations from people across Canada, like Brule, have tallied over $50,000.
Edmonton Oilers Hockey is presented in part by Rexall Family of Pharmacies, Molson Canadian, ATB Financial, TELUS, Cenovus Energy and Ford.
