A new day saw fresh faces and some pep in the Oilers step as they hit the ice for morning practice in Leduc.
After falling 4-1 to the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night at Rexall Place, the team appeared to be a little down on their luck.
“We didn’t have a lot of get-up-and-go,” said Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan.
“I mentioned that after the game, but the good thing is, the morning came and we got up and we came here to the rink in Leduc and I thought we had a good practice, we began rebuilding our group.”
The bench boss, having feeling well rested himself, said he was impressed with the team's initiative to come prepared and ready to have a good practice before boarding the plane for their two-game road trip.
“I think we had a choice to make this morning. We could come to the rink and pout and be down on ourselves or we can come and work, and I think for the most part the guys made the right choice and I’m happy for that. I’d like to see that carry over into the game tomorrow night.”
