BLOG: Bachman not focused on pressure

by Chris Wescott / Edmonton Oilers

By being awarded his third straight start, Oilers goaltender Richard Bachman is looking to solidify a spot on the team's depth chart for good.

If he could put forth a good performance tonight against the Detroit Red Wings, it could go a long way into earning that spot. What makes tonight's game even more important is that starter Devan Dubnyk is supposed to make his return from injury when the Oilers go on the road to Florida after this game.

Bachman is not focused on the pressure.

"It's definitely a great opportunity and you're excited about it," said Bachman. "As far as extra pressure, I don't think there is right now. I'm just trying to give the team a chance to win. Especially with how things are going right now, that's the key. Just try to be solid back there and give them some confidence and hopefully come away with two points and kind of go from there.

"I don't put any extra pressure on trying to make the team. I just want to prepare and worry about tonight and let that stuff take care of itself another day."
