TAYLOR, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings got home about 15 hours after taking a 3-2 series lead at Phoenix and went to work.
The Red Wings skated Saturday at an ice rink near the airport because coach Mike Babcock wasn't happy with how they played after having a day off a week ago, losing Game 3 at Joe Louis Arena.
The Coyotes, meanwhile, had only off-ice workouts.
Detroit will host Phoenix in Game 6 of the first-round series with a chance to advance thanks to two straight wins by a combined score of 7-1.
The two-time Western Conference champions have won eight playoff series and captured the Stanley Cup in 2008 during the last three postseasons under Babcock.
Phoenix is 0-5 in the first round of the playoffs and the franchise hasn't advanced since 1987.
