Both the Detroit Red Wings and Washington Capitals are off to fast starts, which ought to make their meeting Saturday night at the Verizon Center one of the best games in the early stages of the 2011-12 season.

It's also the highlight of a busy weekend on the NHL Network.

Viewers in Canada can start the weekend with a Friday night doubleheader -- the Wings go for their fifth win without a loss when they host Columbus at 7 p.m. ET, and Pacific Division surprises Dallas and Anaheim, both off to fast starts, get together at the Honda Center for a 10 p.m. ET matchup.

The Wings jet to the nation's capital after their game against the Blue Jackets for a 7 p.m. ET showdown with the Capitals at the Verizon Center on Saturday. That game will be available to U.S. viewers.

Canadian viewers will have another chance to see the Ducks when Phoenix comes to the Honda Center on Sunday for an 8 p.m. faceoff.
