WHL Roundup: Walters scores in OT to Lethbridge lead Hurricanes over Regina Pats @NHLdotcom

REGINA - Nick Walters scored 1:46 into overtime to lift the Lethbridge Hurricanes to a 5-4 victory over the Regina Pats in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday.

Jaeger White had a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes (8-20-3), and Tyler Wong, Giorgio Estephan and Jamal Watson also scored.

Sam Steel scored a power-play goal and added an assist for the Pats (20-11-2). Austin Wagner had a short-handed goal and Carter Hansen and Braden Christoffer rounded out the Regina offence.

Lethbridge goaltender Stuart Skinner made 22 saves in the victory. Daniel Wapple turned aside 25 shots in the loss.

The Hurricanes failed to score on two power-play chances. Regina was 1 for 7 with the man advantage.



PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. ? Reid Gardiner scored one goal and assisted on two more as the Raiders downed Moose Jaw.

Tim Vanstone, Cory Millette, Jayden Hart, and Simon Stransky also scored for Prince Albert (16-18-1), while Jordan Tkatch chipped in with two assists.

Jaimen Yakubowski had the lone goal for the Warriors (15-17-3), who have dropped their last three games.



SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. ??? Colby Cave scored back-to-back power-play goals and added an assist for a three-point night as the Broncos topped Saskatoon.

Carter Rigby, Coda Gordon and Zac Mackay also scored for Swift Current (17-14-4), and Glenn Gawdin tacked on three assists.

Brett Stovin and Nikita Soshnin replied for the Blades (7-25-3), who are winless in their last 11 games.



CALGARY ??? Lane Bauer's power-play goal at 12:11 of the second period held up as the winner as Edmonton edged the Hitmen.

Dysin Mayo also scored on the power play for the Oil Kings (16-14-5), tying the game 1-1 at 5:48 of the second, and Brandon Baddock added an empty-net goal with 32 seconds left in the game.

Layne Bensmiller had the lone goal for Calgary (19-12-3), which outshot its opponent 32-21.



MEDICINE HAT, Alta. ??? Cole Sanford scored three goals ??? including one shorthanded ??? and tacked on an assist to lead the Tigers over Kamloops.

Trevor Cox had a goal and four helpers for Medicine Hat (23-8-2). Tommy Vannelli scored once and picked up two assists, and Matt Bradley and Steven Owre rounded out the offence.

Matt Needham struck twice for the Blazers (13-19-5) and Nick Chyzowski added the other Kamloops' goal.



RED DEER, Alta. ??? Justin Kirkland scored twice and tacked on an assist as Kelowna doubled up the Rebels.

Rodney Southam had a goal and a helper for the Rockets (27-5-3), and Tyrell Goulbourne and Tyson Baillie rounded out the Kelowna offence.

Connor Bleackley found the back of the net twice for Red Deer (18-12-4). Kayle Doetzel also scored.



EVERETT, Wash. ??? Kohl Bauml scored the shootout winner, adding to his hat trick in regulation time, as the Silvertips edged Victoria.

Cole MacDonald had two goals and an assist for Everett (20-9-4), and Patrick Bajkov also scored.

Tyler Soy struck twice and chipped in with a helper to lead the Royals (17-17-3), who dropped their fourth straight decision. Chaz Reddekopp had a goal and three assists, Brandon Fushimi scored once and chipped in with two assists, and Austin Carroll and Redan Nagy rounded out Victoria's offence.



PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. ??? Tyson Verhelst stopped all 41 shots he faced as Spokane blanked the Cougars.

Kailer Yamamoto led the Chiefs (18-12-3) with a goal and two assists, and Markson Bechtold, Calder Brooks, Dominic Zwerger and Mitch Lipon also scored.

Ty Edmonds started in net for Prince George (17-18-0), stopping 9-of-12 shots in 20 minutes of action. Tavin Grant gave up two goals and made 13 saves the rest of the way.
