WHL Roundup: Reid Gardiner has four points to lead Raiders over Chiefs

SPOKANE, Wash. - Reid Gardiner had two goals and two assists as the Prince Albert Raiders scored five times in the third period to beat the Spokane Chiefs 7-4 on Friday night in Western Hockey League action.

Austin Glover, Dylan Williamson, Matteo Gennaro, Simon Stransky and Sean Montgomery supplied the rest of the offence for the Raiders (7-2-1). Jesse Lees tacked on three assists as Prince Albert won its third straight.

Markson Bechtold, Luke Harrison, Riley Whittingham and Kolten Olynek found the back of the net for the Chiefs (3-4-1).

Rylan Parenteau started in goal for the Raiders and turned away 3-of-6 shots in 20 minutes before giving way to Ian Scott. Scott went the rest of the way and made 17 saves in relief. Tyson Verhelst kicked out 27 shots for Spokane.

Prince Albert went 2 for 3 on the power play and didn't take any penalties of its own.

BRANDON, Man. ? Jayce Hawryluk, Reid Duke and Tanner Kaspick all scored in the third period as the Wheat Kings got past Swift Current.

Macoy Erkamps opened the scoring with a power-play goal for Brandon (5-1-2). Connor Gutenberg chipped in with a second-period goal.

Artyom Minulin, Jake DeBrusk and Scott Feser provided the offence for the Broncos (4-4-1).

Austin Wagner had a goal midway through the third period for the Pats (5-4-0), with Sam Steel adding an empty netter.

Dario Meyer and Colton Kehler found the back of the net for Edmonton (3-5-1).

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. ??? Steven Owre scored twice and added an assist as the Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak by downing Kootenay.

Ryan Jevne, Chad Butcher, Alex Mowbray and Cole Sanford also chipped in for Medicine Hat (3-4-1).

Zak Zborosky struck twice for the Ice (2-8-0), with River Beattie adding the other.

PORTLAND, Ore. ??? Evan Weinger had a pair of goals as the Winterhawks got back to their winning ways with a victory over Everett.

Jack Dougherty, Paul Bittner and Dominic Turgeon also found the back of the net for Portland (2-5-0), which had lost its last two games.

Patrick Bajkov had the lone goal for the Silvertips (4-2-0), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. ??? Ty Edmonds turned away all 35 shots he faced to lead the Cougars past Kelowna.

Sam Ruopp, Bartek Bison and Jared Bethune scored for Prince George (3-3-0).

Jackson Whistle kicked out 38 shots in net for the Rockets (6-4-0).

Evan Polei rounded out the attack for the Rebels (6-4-0).

Keith Anderson opened the scoring in the first period for Victoria (7-2-0), which had a three-game winning streak ended.

VANCOUVER ??? Radovan Bondra scored a power-play goal in the second period as the Giants snapped a four-game losing streak by edging Tri-City.

Carter Popoff tied the game 1-1 with his fourth of the season in the first period for Vancouver (4-3-2).

Brian Williams opened the scoring on the power play in the first for the Americans (3-4-1).

KENT, Wash. ??? Keegan Kolesar had a pair of goals as the Thunderbirds routed Kamloops.

Scott Eansor, Ryan Gropp and Matthew Wedman added a goal and assist each for Seattle (4-1-1), which scored seven consecutive goals. Nolan Vokcan and Alexander True rounded out the attack.

Gage Quinney and Collin Shirley responded in the third period for the Blazers (1-7-0).
