WHL Roundup: Jesse Shynkaruk scores hat trick as Warriors rout Raiders

MOOSE JAW, Sask. - Jesse Shynkaruk scored a hat trick as the Moose Jaw Warriors snapped a seven-game losing streak with an 8-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders in Western Hockey League action on Saturday.

Tanner Eberle had a pair of goals for Moose Jaw (16-20-4), which scored five times in the second period. Jiri Smejkal, Jack Rodewald and Ben Duperreault also chipped in.

Cory Millette and Reid Gardiner scored for the Raiders (16-23-1), who have now lost five straight.

Zach Sawchenko turned away 25 shots for the Warriors. Rylan Parenteau started for Prince Albert and made eight saves on 12 shots in 30:23. Nick McBride went the rest of the way and stopped 4-of-8 shots in 29:37.

Moose Jaw converted on two of its chances on the man advantage while the Raiders went 0 for 4.

SASKATOON ? Kohl Bauml scored twice ? including once on the power play ? as Everett downed the Blades.

Patrick Bajkov, Brayden Low, Dawson Leedahl and Graham Millar also found the back of the net for the Silvertips (23-11-4).

Sam McKechnie opened the scoring for Saskatoon (9-28-3), with Jordan Thomson adding the other.

WHEAT KINGS 7 HITMEN 4

BRANDON, Man. ??? Jayce Hawryluk and Rihards Bukarts both scored twice to lead the Wheat Kings past Calgary.

Morgan Klimchuk, Nolan Patrick and Tim McGauley also had goals for Brandon (29-7-4), which has now won eight of 10.

Michael Zipp struck twice for the Hitmen (20-15-3), with Jordy Stallard and Ben Thomas also chipping in.

EDMONTON ??? Davis Koch scored his second of the season and it proved to be the winner as the Oil Kings slipped past Kootenay.

Brett Pollock started the scoring on the power play for Edmonton (19-16-5) and Lane Bauer added an empty-netter.

Matt Alfaro had a goal in the second period for the Ice (21-18-1), who suffered their first regulation loss in eight games.

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. ??? Brett Cote scored the deciding goal in the shootout as Red Deer edged the Hurricanes.

Nelson Nogier started the comeback for the Rebels (21-14-5), with Presten Kopeck tying the game late in the third period.

Miles Warkentine and Taylor Cooper opened the scoring for Lethbridge (9-23-6), which has now lost four straight.

KAMLOOPS, B.C. ??? Deven Sideroff scored the decisive goal in the shootout and once in regulation as the Blazers edged Vancouver to snap a five-game losing streak.

Matt Revel rounded out the attack for Kamloops (14-23-5).

Arvin Atwal and Josh Thrower found the back of the net for the Giants (18-19-2).

PORTLAND, Ore. ??? Adin Hill kicked out all 35 shots he faced as the Winterhawks shut out Tri-City.

Evan Sarthou turned away 47 shots for the Americans (18-18-2).

KELOWNA, B.C. ??? Tomas Soustal had a power-play goal in the third period and it stood as the winner as the No. 2 nationally-ranked Rockets defeated Prince George.

Nick Merkley, Dillon Dube and Justin Kirkland supplied the rest of the Kelowna (31-6-3) offence.

Chase Witala, Cal Babych and Aaron Macklin scored for the Cougars (19-21-0).
