WHL Roundup: Colin Smith has four points as Blazers crush Wheat Kings @NHLdotcom

Colin Smith had a goal and three assists as the Kamloops Blazers crushed the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings 8-1 on Friday in Western Hockey League play.

Tim Bozon and Dylan Willick each scored twice for the Blazers (13-0-1), who are the only team remaining in the WHL without a regulation-time loss, and Cole Ully, Jordan DePape and Tyler Hansen added a goal apiece.

JC Lipon chipped in with three assists to push his league-leading point total to 35 points in 14 games.

Alessio Bertaggia scored for the Wheat Kings (7-6-2), who were playing in their sixth consecutive road contest.

Cole Cheveldave stopped 20 shots for the win as Corbin Boes allowed four goals on 14 shots and was pulled from Brandon's net 14 minutes into the game.

Curtis Honey stopped 25-of-29 shots in relief.

Kamloops went 3-for-6 on the power play while Brandon went 1-for-6

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Medicine Hat 10, Calgary 1; Swift Current 5, Kootenay 2; Lethbridge 6, Regina 1; Moose Jaw 3, Prince Albert 2; Kelowna 3, Red Deer 1; Vancouver 4 Victoria 1; Everett 6, Spokane 5 and Seattle 3, Tri-City 1.

At Kamloops, B.C., the Blazers jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the first period was finished.

Smith opened the scoring at 2:34, Ully followed at 7:59, Bozon scored the next two and Depape scored the fifth at 18:35.

Willick made it 6-0 for Kamloops just 22 seconds into the second period and Hansen added another goal at 4:02.

Willick made it 8-0 early in the third period before Bertaggia finally got Brandon on the board at 15:52.

At Calgary, Curtis Valk and Hunter Shinkaruk combined for five goals and 10 points as Medicine Hat (6-8-1) crushed the Hitmen (8-3-2).

At Cranbrook, B.C., Eetu Laurikainen stopped 39-of-41 shots, earning the game's first star, as Swift Current (6-6-4) handed Kootenay (4-9-0) its fourth straight defeat.


Hurricanes 6 Pats 1

At Lethbridge, Alta., Jamal Watson scored twice and Ty Rimmer made 28 saves as the Hurricanes (7-7-1) downed Regina (6-8-1).


Warriors 3 Raiders 2

At Prince Albert, Sask. Brayden Point scored twice and Justin Paulic picked up an assist on each of his club's three goals as Moose Jaw (7-5-2) edged the Raiders (8-4-2).


Rockets 3 Rebels 1

At Red Deer, Alta., Colton Sissons scored twice and Jackson Whistle made 30 saves as Kelowna (7-5-2) beat the Rebels (7-8-2) for its third win in its last four outings.


Giants 4 Royal 1

At Vancouver, Marek Tvrdon scored three times and set up one more as the Giants (3-9-0) snapped a five-game losing streak with a win against Victoria (9-5-0).


Silvertips 6 Chiefs 5

At Everett, Wash. Kohl Bauml scored twice and Daniel Cotton made 29 saves as the Silvertips (6-7-1) picked up their fourth straight victory by beating Spokane (9-5-0).


Thunderbirds 3 Americans 1

At Seattle, Brandon Glover stopped 44-of-45 shots, earning the game's first star, and Roberts Lipsberg's goal at 4:12 of the third period stood up as the winner as the Thunderbirds (6-5-0) beat Tri-City (9-4-2).
