KENT, Wash. - Oliver Bjorkstrand scored once and set up three more and Nicolas Petan had a pair of goals and an assist as the Portland Winterhawks downed the Seattle Thunderbirds 8-5 on Thursday in Western Hockey League playoff action.
Chase De Leo had a goal and two assists for the Winterhawks, who evened their best-of-seven first-round series 2-2. Adam Henry, Keegan Iverson, Alex Overhardt and Dominic Turgeon rounded out the attack.
Ryan Gropp and Shea Theodore led the Thunderbirds with a goal and two helpers each while Mathew Barzal, Alexander True and Ethan Bear added the others.
Portland's Adin Hill made 23 saves for the win. Taran Kozun started in net for Seattle but was yanked after allowing five goals on 22 shots. Logan Flodell kicked out 19-of-21 shots in 21:35 of relief.
The Winterhawks went 2 for 4 on the power play while the Thunderbirds scored once on three chances with the man advantage.
The series returns to Portland for Game 5 on Saturday.

RED DEER, Alta. ??? Marek Langhamer made 39 saves and Dryden Hunt's goal 1:19 into the third period stood up as the winner as Medicine Hat beat the Rebels in Game 4 of their first-round matchup.
Steven Owre, Markus Eisenschmid, Cole Sanford and Trevor Cox also scored for the Tigers, who lead the series 3-1.
Wyatt Johnson, Conner Bleackley and Haydn Fleury supplied the scoring for Red Deer, which got a 38-save outing from Rylan Toth.
Medicine Hat can end the series Saturday when it hosts Game 5.
