It took an offensive explosion to end Kamloops' eight-game winning streak.

Jordan Weal had a hat trick and an assist Sunday as the Regina Pats hammered the Blazers 8-4 in the Western Hockey League.

Brandon Davidson chipped in with two goals for Regina (17-14-2), while Colton Jobke had a goal and an assist. Ricard Blidstrand and Dryden Hunt had the other goals for the Pats. Dominik Volek had two assists.

Colin Smith had two goals and an assist for Kamloops (22-8-1), while Dylan Willick and Tim Bozon added singles. The Blazers also got two assists each from Brendan Ranford and JC Lipon.

Regina goalie Adam Beukeboom made 32 saves to pick up his first WHL win.

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Calgary 4, Brandon 3; Prince Albert 5, Red Deer 0; and Tri-City 3, Portland 0.

At Regina, the game was tied 1-1 after the first thanks to a pretty breakaway goal by Weal and wicked wrist shot by Willick.

The Pats blew it open in the second with six goals. Weal started the onslaught with a short-handed effort and ended it with a booming slapshot on the power play.

In between, Regina's Davidson and Kamloops' Smith also scored twice, while Jobke and Blidstrand buried their goals.

Cam Lanigan took the loss for the Blazers after making just 12 saves on 16 shots. Cole Cheveldave started and allowed three goals on 16 shots before getting pulled.

Hitmen 4 Wheat Kings 3

At Calgary, Trevor Cheek scored a pair of goals and Brady Brassart added the winner late in the third as the Hitmen (17-13-2) edged Brandon (19-13-2).

Raiders 5 Rebels 0

At Red Deer, Alta., Mike Winther and Justin Maylan each scored twice and Cole Holowenko made 39 saves as Prince Albert (10-22-3) shut out the Raiders (14-15-4).

Americans 3 Winterhawks 0

At Kennewick, Wash., Ty Rimmer posted his third shutout of the season and Connor Rankin added a pair of goals to lead Tri-City (25-7-0) past Portland (20-11-3).
