Keith Hamilton made sure Victoria hockey fans saw a winning return to the Western Hockey League.
The netminder was stellar in making 48 saves Saturday as the Royals downed the Vancouver Giants 5-3 in Victoria's first regular-season WHL home game since 1994.
Kevin Sundher had a goal and two assists for Victoria (1-1-0), while Logan Nelson and Robin Soudek each added a goal and an assist. Brandon Magee and Jamie Crooks also scored for the Royals, who relocated from Chilliwack, B.C., in the off-season. Steven Hodges added two assists.
James Henry had a goal and an assist for Vancouver (1-1-0), while Dalton Sward and Nathan Burns also scored.
Brendan Jensen started for the Giants but was pulled early in the second after allowing four goals on 13 shots.

Magee made it 4-1 at 3:52 on the power play after he collected a loose puck in a scrum in the front of the Vancouver net and beat Jenson.
Vancouver came on strong in the third period as Burns buried a rebound past Hamilton at 8:48.
Sward then cut the Victoria lead to one at 17:57, firing past Hamilton from the slot.
But that would be as close as Vancouver would come as Sundher iced the game with an empty-net goal at 19:46.
