WHL Roundup: A look at Friday's games @NHLdotcom

Brandon Glover made quite the impression on his new teammates in his debut for the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The 20-year-old goaltender, who spent last season with the Calgary Hitmen, stopped 55 of 57 shots as Seattle defeated the host Portland Winterhawks 5-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Riley Sheen scored twice for the Thunderbirds (1-0-0) while Tyler Alos, Luke Lockhart and Alexander Delnov added a goal apiece.

Nicolas Petan and Oliver Bjorkstrand each scored for the Winterhawks (0-1-0).

Brendan Burke made 22 saves in a losing effort.

Seattle went 2 for 4 on the power play as Portland failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Brandon 3, Regina 2; Lethbridge 4, Medicine Hat 2; Moose Jaw 4, Swift Current 3 (OT); Saskatoon 2, Prince Albert 1 (SO); Calgary 3, Red Deer 2; Kamloops 6, Kelowna 5 (OT) and Victoria 6, Vancouver 4.

At Portland, Ore., After a scoreless first period, Seattle scored four straight goals in the second period to grab a commanding lead.

Alos scored at 5:13, Lockhart scored on the power play at 9:46, Sheen added another power-play goal at 15:25 and followed it up with his second of the night in the final minute of the period.

Delnov increased the Thunderbirds lead to 5-0 26 seconds into the third period before Portland finally got on the board.

Bjorkstrand scored the Winterhawks first goal at 1:46 and Petan added one more late at 17:13.


Wheat Kings 3 Pats 2

At Brandon, Corbin Boes made 27 saves and Jens Meilleur scored the winning goal as the Wheat Kings (1-0-0) defeated Regina (0-1-0).


Hurricanes 4 Tigers 2

At Lethbridge, Alta., Ty Rimmer made 36 saves and Lethbridge (1-0-0) received goals from four different players as they doubled up Medicine Hat (0-1-0).


Warriors 4 Broncos 3 (OT)

At Moose Jaw, Sask., Justin Paulic made 23 saves and Andrew Johnson scored the winner in overtime on a penalty shot as the Warriors (1-0-0) defeated Swift Current (0-0-1).


Blades 2 Raiders 1 (SO)

At Prince Albert, Sask., Matej Stansky scored the shootout winner and Andrey Makarov made 40 saves as Saskatoon (1-0-0) edged the Raiders (0-0-1).


Hitmen 3 Rebels 2

At Red Deer, Alta., Cody Sylvester scored twice and added an assist and Chris Driedger made 25 saves as Calgary (1-0-0) downed the Rebels (0-1-0).


Blazers 6 Rockets 5 (OT)

At Kamloops, B.C., Tim Bozon scored three times, including the winner 2:43 into overtime, as the Blazers (1-0-0) edged Kelowna (0-0-1).


Royals 6 Giants 4

At Vancouver, Steven Hodges scored twice and set up one more and Patrik Polivka made 26 saves as Victoria (1-0-0) beat the Giants (0-1-0).
