Wednesday's OHL roundup @NHLdotcom

Adam Payerl's big night pushed the Belleville Bulls past Oshawa on Wednesday.

The Kitchener, Ont., native scored four times as the Bulls topped the Generals 5-3 in the Ontario Hockey League play. Michael Curtis had the other goal for Belleville (19-39-8). Shawne Lalonde and Stephen Silas each picked up three assists, while Richard Panik added two of his own.

Tony DeHart, with a goal and an assist, Alain Berger and Christian Thomas replied for the Oshawa (24-37-4). Alex Dzielski had two assists for the Generals.

Tyson Teichmann made 30 saves to pick up the win for Belleville. Kevin Bailie gave up two goals on 13 shots before being replaced midway through the first period. Michael Zador went the rest of the way and stopped 20 of 23 shots to take the loss.

Elsewhere in the OHL it was: London 4 Sarnia 3; and Sault Ste. Marie 3 Saginaw 2 (SO).

At Belleville, Ont., Payerl opened the scoring at 7:05 of the first, before doubling the Bulls' lead at 12:10 on the power play to chase Bailie from the Generals net.

Berger got one back for Oshawa at 7:26 of the second, but Payerl completed his hat trick late in period to make it 3-1, again with the man advantage.

Payerl scored his fourth on another power play at 6:03 of the third, but Thomas replied for the Generals with the extra man 2:30 later to make it 4-2.

DeHart made it 4-3 with just over three minutes to go, but Curtis put the game away on another the power play for Belleville at 18:40.

Belleville finished the night 4-for-7 on the man advantage, while Oshawa 1-for-4.

Knights 4 Sting 3

At London, Ont., the Knights jumped out to 4-0 lead before holding on to beat Sarnia.

Michael MacDonald and Jared Knight scored in the first for London (48-15-3), before Steven Tarasuk and Scott Harrington doubled the lead after two.

Jesse Stoughton, with a goal and an assist, Zack MacQueen and Nathan Chiarlitti scored in the third for Sarnia (16-45-5), but the Sting would get no closer.

Nazem Kadri picked up three assists for London, while Chris DeSousa had two of his own.

Michael Hutchinson made 25 saves for the win. Shayne Campbell stopped 34 shots in defeat.


Greyhounds 3 Spirit 2 (SO)

At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Daniel Catenacci scored the shootout winner as the Greyhounds topped Saginaw.

Jordan Carroll and Brett Thompson scored in regulation for the Greyhounds (35-26-5).

Ivan Telegin and Cody Sol had the goals for Saginaw (32-27-7).

Robin Lehner made 31 saves to pick up the win, while Edward Pasquale stopped 33 shots in defeat.
