Weal scores winner and adds two assists, Pats beat Rebels 5-3

REGINA - Jordan Weal scored the game winner and added two assists to lead the Regina Pats to a 5-3 win over the Red Deer Rebels in Western Hockey League action Satruday night.

Trent Ouellette also had a goal and two assists for Regina while Colton Jobke had a goal and one assist. Chandler Stephenson and Morgan Klimchuk, with an empty netter, had the other goals for the Pats.

Matthew Dumba, Tyler Geibel and Matthew Pufahl scored for the Rebels.

Red Deer (14-11-3) lead the game 2-1 after the first thanks to a booming slapshot from 17-year-old prospect Dumba and Geibel's first as a Rebel.

The Pats made a goalie change to start the second by pulling Adam Beukeboom in favour of regular netminder Matt Hewitt.

Regina (14-12-2) then took the lead after two periods of play thanks to Ouellette?s goal and a power play point blast from Jobke.

Midway through the third Red Deer?s Pufahl struck on the power play with a blast from the point to tie the game 3-3.

Coming into the game Red Deer had the most overtime and shootout wins in the league, with two of each.

But with just over four minutes to go Weal ended the threat by going end to end around two Rebel defencemen and scoring the game winner.

Rebels goalie Patrik Bartosak played a solid 60 minutes and made 36 saves in defeat.

After entering the game in the second with his team down by one, Hewitt made 12 saves for the win.
